About the Performance
Spanda Dance Company, led by the legendary dancer Leela Samson, presents 'Prakasya'. The name 'Prakasya' means "to be brought to light," and the performance shines a radiant light on exquisite verses and compositions by Southern Indian poet-composers. The Spanda Dance Company moves beyond traditional solos, using collective movement to explore universal themes of love, nature, and devotion. This is a chance to see a powerful blend of the ancient and the modern, where classical dance defies gender norms and celebrates the essence of being.
About Leela Samson
A revered dancer and choreographer, Leela Samson is a leading figure in Indian classical dance whose immense contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri. Her life's work is a testament to her dedication, and she has held prestigious roles, including Director of the Kalakshetra Foundation.
