An Introduction to Contemporary Dance

About the Event

Leela Foundation is delighted to bring to you The Legacy Series in which scholars, artists, and performers discuss the legacy of art. In this opening series, we begin with the discussion on contemporary dance as practiced in the U.S.

The talk interspersed with archival video clips will be presented by Dr. Naima Prevots and moderated by Janet Lily.

Graduate of the Juilliard School of Dance, recipient of the 2019 Life Time Achievement Award from the National Dance Education Organization, and author of numerous books on dance, Dr. Naima Prevots brings a wealth of perspective and insight to the practice and scholarship of Contemporary dance.

Janet Lilly, a former principal dancer and teacher with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, is the Director of the School of Dance at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG).

The event is free, but registration is needed to attend. Please email info@leela-foundation.org to register and receive the zoom link for the event.
