Morning Workshop  - Jayadeva’s Ashtapadhi 5 – Sanchara dhadhara

October 30, 31 and Nov. 1

Time: 10 am - 12 pm EST

Ragam : Thodi / Adi / triputa

On hearing of the fun Krishna was having with other gopis, Radha goes into a quiet bower, and tearfully tells her friend that all she can think about is Krishna.

A beautiful description of Krishna as remembered by Radha is the content of this ashtapadi.

Workshop I - Skanda Sashti Thillana

(Intermediate Level)

October 30, 31 and Nov. 1

Time: 4:30- 6:30 pm EST

Thillana is primarily a nritta piece, with emphasis on  swift, precise rhythmic movements. Thillana captures the joy and vibrancy of dance as it combines striking poses with complex rhythms.

Eligibility Criteria: Open to Bharata Natyam dancers with ages 10+ and with Intermediate Level training for about 3-5 years

Workshop II - Abhinaya Item - Yeppadi Manam

(Advanced Level)

October 30, 31 and Nov 1

6:45pm to 8:45 pm EST

“Yeppadi Manam” is a poem by Arunachala Kavirayar, where a strong and bold Sita confronts Lord Rama asking him to revoke the decision of going to the forest for 14 years without her. This is a nritya piece with emphasis on the narrative. It is in Ragam, Huseni, Talam Misra Chapu.

Eligibility Criteria:  Open to Advanced Level dancers of all classical dance styles preferably with 5-8 years of learning
